Ned Scheetz, CFA, Managing Director

Ned Scheetz founded Aphelion Capital®, LLC in 2005. Prior to forming Aphelion, Mr. Scheetz was a partner and managing director with Piper Jaffray Ventures (PJV) for nearly eight years, focusing on investments in emerging medical technology companies.  Mr. Scheetz joined PJV from Janus Capital, where he was a senior research analyst covering medical technology.   Before beginning his investment career Mr. Scheetz worked in various product management roles with a subsidiary of Eastman Kodak and in sales with Kraft General Foods.

Mr. Scheetz is a graduate of Colby College, Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, and was a post-graduate scholar at Oxford University.  Ned holds the CFA designation, and is a board member of Curant, OrthAlign, OrthoScan, SurgiQuest, VasoNova, and the San Francisco YMCA.  Mr. Scheetz is an advisory board member with the Center for Medical Device Innovation, and on the business advisory board of The Epilepsy Therapy Development Project.






John Hyung-Jun Kim, MD, MBA, Associate

John Hyung-Jun Kim completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Stanford University Medical Center.  Mr. Kim completed his undergraduate studies in biochemistry from Harvard University, and is a graduate of Duke University’s School of Medicine and the Fuqua School of Business, where he concentrated on health sector management.  Mr. Kim has worked as a medical consultant in biogenetics, and was previously with Bear Stearns & Company as an Equity Research Associate. Mr. Kim continues to practice part-time as a hospitalist, keeping Aphelion Capital current with medical trends.







Chen Zhou, Analyst

Chen Zhou
graduated with an Economics and Mathematics degree from Colby College in 2009. She had internships in venture capital and asset management in both the United States and China. Chen is a CFA Level 2 candidate and is bilingual in English and Mandarin.







Pamela Edwards, Executive Assistant

Pam Edwards
joined Aphelion Capital in 2009, managing the administrative functions for the investment team.  Prior to joining Aphelion, Pam worked for Nielsen Media Research for three years as an account manager, and is a graduate of San Francisco State University, with a degree in Health Science.
